Sažetak
The Riviera of Kvarner is a coastal tourism destination. Coastal tourism destination management is nowadays facing with increased competition and has a pressing need for major investment, modernization of infrastructure and preservation of the natural assets of sea, beaches, wetlands and so on. Gone are the days when tourists were satisfied by sun, sea and sand alone. Modern tourists expect to find a range of activities and a variety of experiences. Monitoring progress in quality improvement provides the understanding that encourages proactive management, because quality gives the edge over competitors. Quality performance makes destinations and services easier to market, both to operators and tourists. A quality product results in customer loyalty, and better quality means more profit. Quality management leads to a stable tourism industry and protects jobs. Quality improvements in a destination provide a better quality of life for local residents. Quality management improves access to finance, and effective monitoring of progress avoids repeating costly mistakes. Therephofe are a number of reasons, to introduce the research and discuses in the practice about the best organization of destination management and transparency of information for integrated destination quality management. Careful data collection provides the tool for making the right management decisions. External and internal information are very important for tourist professionals, and all public and private organizations involved in tourist services on the destinations level.
