Sažetak
Aims: To present a case of 22-years-old women with multiple epidermal cyst and partial hearing loss. Methods: A present and past medical history were taken and a physical examination was made. Laboratory examinations and histopathologic analysis of a nodule were done. Results: The patient presented with a 5 years history of nodules, initially similar to acne, which appeared approximately at the age of 12 years (after the first menstruation) on the extensor parts of the forearms and abdomen. They began to spread on the trunk, proximal aspects of the lower extremities, gluteal region and neck. Some of the nodules become painful or infected. All father’ s family members have acne. Her grandfather (father side) has a partial hearing loss. Past medical history include partial hearing loss at the age of 5-6 years. Numerous inflamed papules, scars and 0.5-1 cm cysts were present on the extensor parts of the forearms, gluteal region, lower extremities, neck, with fewer lesions located on the trunk. Histopathological analysis showed that the nodule was an epidermal cyst. Conclusions: The formation of multiple epidermal cysts and hearing imparement have possibly the same genetic basis.
