Sažetak
Prepared for the Special Session of the UN General Assembly on Children, this booklet presents the circumstances affecting the lives of children in Croatia years after the war has ended. It includes social and economic environment, psychosocial needs of children, their exposure to traumatic stressors, prevalence of physical and mental health problems, behavior disorders, child abuse and neglect and children with disabilities. Child and family services and their transformation, as well as the changes in the legal framework to protect children are described. The role of non-governmental organizations is also highlighted.
