Sažetak
The needs and possibilities for the development of winter resorts and mountain centres in Croatia are based on the following:  the growing demands in Croatia and in the neighbouring countries for this specific kind of tourism,  popularity of skiing in Croatia after the magnificent successes of Croatian skiers (Janica Kostelić and others),  the increasing number of tourists who go on winter vacations,  construction of road infrastructure that approximates the ski centres to bigger cities such as Zagreb, Varaždin, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Osijek, etc.,  a great number of ski teachers and instructors,  natural and geographic possibilities of ski centres,  production of artificial snow, etc. For every ski centre there is a need to make special study projects which will identify the micro location, the idea of a project, the construction of facilities and equipment supply, the economic parameters of investment and economic effects, the profitability of the project, environment influence, the social profitability of a project, etc. Winter ski and mountain centres in Croatia can be developed by applying various forms of entrepreneurship which can give additional impetus to the development of winter sports and mountain tourism in Croatia.
