Sažetak
Younger patients with extensive cerebral oedma, who were not treated for any other chronic disease, heart disease or any such disorder before the onset of the stroke, have significantly better chances for survival with less neurologic deficit. Cerebral oedma as a result of ischemic stroke followed with brain shifts and progresssive deterioration of consciousness in young, until then healthy people, is a valid reason for the use of hyperventilation.
