Sažetak
Two mappings are said to form a phantom pair provided they are not homotopic although their restrictions to any compact subset are homotopic. It is proved that there are no phantom pairs of mappings between 1-dimensional CW-complexes. To obtain his result the author proves a certain theorem on free groups.
