Sažetak
Degradation of proteoglycans to glycosaminoglycans of various lengths takes place through the action of neutral proteinases and endoglycosidases. Clearance of the free glycosaminoglycan chains is carried out preferentially through renal excretion. Increased urinary excretion of total glycosaminoglycans can be detected earlier than the developmnet of microalbuminuria.
