Sažetak
The paper assesses whether small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Croatia find favoring conditions supporting their entry to the EU market and growth, and evaluates the extent to which they display truly entrepreneurial behavior in terms of effectively translating the results of research and development into commercial outcomes facilitating both. It will be determined whether regional transnational linkages may support these processes. The assessment of the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation climate in Croatia is partly based on a field study of high-technology SMEs, which was undertaken in the Zagreb region in 2004.
