Sažetak
An increase in productivity of the pipe shop is closely linked with shortening the time of building a ship and a decrease in the ship outfitting costs. The authors consider that the pipe shape is one of the fundamental determinants in defining the capacity and throughput of the pipe production line. The pipe shape is conditioned by ship’ s space, which poses difficulty in applying more of standardized and typified pipe shapes in the shipyard. A new approach to optimising the pipe manufacturing process relies on a conception of outfitting a virtual ship, whereby using a computer 3D simulation of an outfitted ship’ s space, the ship’ s pipes are functionally interconnected following the shortest routes. The objective is to optimise the capacity and throughput of the pipe production line putting a strong focus on the pipe shape, unlike the previous approach to determining the capacity as a quantity of pipe units. This presents a contribution to the optimising of pipe production modernization costs and provides an efficient capacity of the machines and tools and manpower with a view to reducing the ship’ s outfitting time and boosting the productivity of the shipyard.
