Sažetak
Aims: To examine the prevalence of comorbidities in hospitalized patients with early and late onset psoriasis. Methods: Medical records of 143 patients with early and 117 patients with late onset psoriasis, hospitalized at Department of dermatovenerology during a 10-year period (1996-2005), were analyzed. Results: The mean age of psoriatic patients was 24.19± ; 8.39 years in early onset and 54.46± ; 10.17 years in late onset psoriasis, respectively. The incidence of hypertension (6.16% vs 18.80%), and ischaemic hearth disease (0.70% vs 7.69%) was higher in late onset group although the difference was not statistically significant. There was no difference in the incidence of diabetes (3.59% vs 3.41%) between two examined groups of psoriatic patients, while the incidence of CVI was slightly higher in early onset (1.40% vs 0.85%) psoriasis. Laboratory data showed that hypertrigliceridaemia (7.69% vs 14.59%) and hypercholesterolaemia (15.38% vs 23.39%) were more frequent in late onset group of patients. Conclusion: In our study, we confirmed the existence of comorbidities in psoriatic patients with early and late onset psoriasis. However, we did not find any statistical difference in the prevalence of comorbidities between these groups of patients.
