Sažetak
It is not an easy problem to organise a group of capable and diligent professionals in the field of computing to perform the university educational tasks, the scientific research and to participate in real-life projects. Such people are often strong individuals, aware of their value and, in some countries, notably underpaid comparing to some rather simple but lucrative jobs. The allure is present to look for a job abroad or to abandon the academic career. This article is a case study of an existing computing group within the University in a former communist country, now in transition to capitalism. An exact mathematical model, which has been the backbone of the group philosophy for the last eight years, is presented and discussed. It is opposed to a hierarchical model and it enforces the fractal management, rapid promotion of young professionals and synergy effects. In the first few years, it has shown remarkable results. On the other hand, the time has shown that it harbours the dangers of egalitarianism what can consequently cause a loss of motivation and personal incentive. The authors" intention is to share the experience and to provoke discussions in order to help themselves and the others in the quest for better solutions.
