Sažetak
Abstract: The aim of the study was to determine prognostic value of ultrasonographic parameters in acute pancreatitis. One hundered and thirty patients aged 18 to 82 years, suffering from acute pancreatitis and admitted to the intensive care unit, were included in the study. Ultrasound measurenments of the pancreas were done in all ptients three times during the hospitalization, i. e. immediately after admission , after 48 hours, and on the fifth day of hospitalization. All of them were followed-up clinicaly and with labaratory tests. Patients were divided according to Ranson-s criteria, sex and etiology of pancreatitis (biliary, alcoholic). For each of these parameters there are determinations of single and group correlations with the severity of the disease and accompanying complications. Increased dimensin of the head of the pancreas measured between the second and the fifth day of hospitalization is prognostically ominous. It has also been found that alcoholism together with acute pancreatitis in middle aged men represents a bad prognostic sign. Out of 46 patients who suffered from severe form of acue pacreatitis , 45 had alcoholic pancreatitis. Severe form of acute pancreatitis can be discovered in any time by a subset of ultrasonographic, biochemical and clinical parameters.
