Sažetak
Morbus Parkinsons is a chronic degenerative disease in the older patients. The disability degree caused by this disease is measured b< the Hoehn and Yahr Stage Scale. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) is an effective instrument used to measure the quality and patterns of sleep in older adults. The research includes 20 Parkinsons disease (PD) patients. Their disability degree has been measured by the Hoech and Yahr Stage Scale. Their sleep quality has been valued ba the PSQI as poor, medium and good. The disability degree and the disease duration were correlated to the PSQI inall patients. In the statiscal processing, the Mann-Whitney test was used. The research includes 20 patients with PD, 5 men and 15 women. A statistically significant correlation between the disease duration and the disability degree has been established, P=0.011. No statistically significant correlation has been estabished between PD duration and the PSQI ; p=0.41, Z=0.851. No statistically significant correlation has been established between the disability degree by Hoehn and Yahr and the PSQI ; p=0.412, z=0.92. The disability degree in PD patients correlates statistically significantly with degree in PD patients correlates statistically significantly with the disease duration. Preliminary results indicate that PSQI correlates with neither the disease duration nor the disability degree. A relevant valuation of relations between particular variables requires testing of a larger specimen of PD patients.
