Sažetak
The results of the project- Evaluation of the Programme of Education of teachers for the Integration of Pupils with Special Needs- indicate that the application of an experimental programme of teacher education resulted in statistically significant changes in teachers attitudes. Teachers became more wiling to accept children with special needs and more competent to work with them. Teachers realised their role in the process of educational integration, as indispensable members of a team. On the other side, teachers did not demonstrate increased knowledge of the advantages of educational integration for other students in the classroom, i.e. that for children without difficulties, educational integration can contribute to the development of altruism. The experimental programme was conceived to influence change in teachers attitudes. Teachers acqiired new skills trough this experiance, in the areas of education as well as in the area of social skills needed to better communicate with children with special needs and their parents. Analysis of the results also showed that not enough attention has been given to preparing other students to accept pupils with special needs, which will certainly be addressed in the next version of the programme. Further analysis of the results in the area of personal and social adaptation of pupils will perhaps show a need for other improvement in the programme.
