Sažetak
Due to the complicated conditions of heat transfer in a furnace chamber (radiation, shape of heated load, flue gas flow), the heating conditions generally cannot be determined by means of the traditional analytical calculations and therefore must be found out experimentally. For that reason, the mathematical model of heating process of steel load in the rotary-hearth furnace, which enables the required thermal analysis, was constructed on the basis of the finite element method (FEM). Transient heat conduction and thermal stress analysis were performed in order to determine the heating rate and, via the temperature variation throughout the structure, thermal stresses and deformations. The model results are validated through comparisons with furnace measurements.
