Sažetak
Since 2004, there are several reforms of the Croatian educational system in process ; the elementary school level: The Croatian National Educational Standard and higher education level: The Bologna process. Preparations for the introduction of state school-leaving exam are also in process. This article presents a review of the reforms status with brief reference to problems, challenges, application and implementation of the reforms, with special reference to the field of science and mathematics education as extremely important for achieving three of five competencies every adult or youth should have, recommended by the European Commission: ICT skills, technical culture, foreign languages, scientific literacy and entrepreneurial and social skills.
