Sažetak
The aim of this study was to present a digital measurement system to identify occlusion contacts as described by time moments in the sagittal and transverse axes of the occlusal plane. Twenty-three adult patients were selected for the study. They all had complete natural dentitions showing no signs of temporomandibular disorder, trismus or cervical spine desease, and they were not in orthodontic therapy nor did they have any prosthetic devices. Four measurements of closure in the maximal intercuspation position (MIP) at upright position of head and body were made, as patients closed on the T-Scan II digital measurement system sensor. Variables that were used are relative occlusal forces in four quadrants at the beginning of closure and in the MIP. The center of force pinpoints the location of the sum of the total force of the occlusal contacts by calculating the sum of the mediolateral and anteroposterior force moments of the recorded contacts. This data is then presented as a coloured bull's eye superimposed on the tooth contact data (target). Bull's eye represent the ideal position of the center of force in the MIP. The result was that the relative forces in anterior segments were lower than the ones in the posterior segments. Relative force at the beginning of closure was significantly lower then the one in the MIP in every segment except the right posterior one, where the difference was not statistically significant. Harmony was found in the relative forces in both positions in the posterior segments, but there was some variance in the contacts in the front. Distribution of patients' centers of forces was equal in the areas inside and outside the target at the beginning of closure, but in the MIP most of the centers of forces moved inside the target.
