Sažetak
The role of digital document and security graphics protection is very important and is exceeding daily. With strong technological evolution of digital scanners and growth of scanning resolutions, counterfeits have been improved in quality becoming very close to originals. Our research elaborate the field of microtext which is present in many documents and security graphics. Microtext works as a protection because scanners cannot clearly define the edges of characters. Printing of microtext is always carried out with spot colors. These colors must not contain colors from the RGB or CMYK scale to prevent the reproduction by using transformations between those two scales. Microtext is readable information always known to those who use this kind of documents or security graphics. In bank notes it is an anthem or famous song, verse or important proverb or some national attribute. In security graphics or checks, microtext contains marks of the bank or institution which publish them. Reproduction with process colors in digital printing gives vague surfaces and completely illegible text. This warns the users that something is not right with the graphic solution of the document. The role of microtext is not only in counterfeiting protection, but different design solutions can be achieved which gives it a possibility of wide range of appliance. Individualized characters and specially designed fonts make protection more effective. We had examined the height of characters, sort of letter cut and the shape of characters, and determined the limits to design such typography in intend to disable the reproduction of clear graphic type. We tested many banknotes and documents which are in use in different countries today.
