Sažetak
The objective of this work was to explore: 1. the prevalence rate of PTSD and comorbidity based on psychiatric and psychological assessment; 2. influence of some pretraumatic, traumatic and posttraumatic experiences on PTSD and comorbidity.
The study included 292 men that experienced combat and war stress (the mean age was 34.01 +/-16.38, range 20-60). In the group with comorbid disorders 41% had neurotic disorders, 16% depression, 10% personality disorder, 7% psychotic disorder as well as 7% psychosomatic disorder, 6% anxiety disorder, 5% alcohol and drug abuse and 2% panic disorder and phobia. 27% had PTSD, 8% PTSD and enduring personality change, 6% PTSD and adjustment disorder.
It is necessary to include many different assessment methods and diagnostic criteria because only then the most objective diagnosis and appropriate therapy is possible. This is especially important in the situation of expertise. Generally, PTSD can be distinguished from other mental disorders by interviewing the patients regarding previous psychic disturbances, pretraumatic and traumatic experiences and posttraumatic functioning. The heteroanamnestic data (family and significant others) about the nature of the current symptoms, previous and current social functioning are of high importance.
