Sažetak
After the Republic of Croatia became an independent and sovereign state at the beginning of nineties, significant works on the analysis, estimation, modernisation, and improvement of the existing fundamental networks inherited from the former state community, i.e. former Yugoslavia, were initiated in the collaboration of the State Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Croatia, Faculty of Geodesy at the University of Zagreb and a certain number of acclaimed geodetic firms. Especially extensive activities were carried out in the period from 1992 till 1998 regarding the updating of state networks of the geometric levelling with the purpose to establish a new height system of the Republic of Croatia as the independent and sovereign state. So far realised works, that were mentioned in the national reports from previous years eg. (Bilajbegović and Solarić 1995) only in general and in parts, are very extensive and include a series of elements from the establishment of the new height system to the integration of this system into the United European Levelling Networks - UELN with the aim of its adjustment in the year 2000. It must be specially pointed out that one of the basic orientations in performing all the works on the height system was the intention to achieve the geodetic integration of the Republic of Croatia into all European geodetic activities on equal footing.
