Sažetak
Achieving significantly higher level of GDP per capita, along with establishing a modern economic 'structure, are the economic predispositions for Croatia's integration into the European economic region. Industry is the activity with the most significant influence on bringing Croatia closer to the EU countries. The pace of this process will largely depend on the speed and successfulness of the industrial prestructuration. Industry, and particularly manufacturing industry, went through the most intense transitional "shocks" in the Croatian economy, first of all because the technical and technological backwardness, and absence of economic and organizational modernization. This research deals with the problems of establishing the macroeconomic predispositions for revitalization of the industrial sector and for quickening the process of its prestructuration. The characteristics of macroeconomic development guidance and the possibilities for its gradual advance towards what the fifteen EU countries have experienced, are to be analyzed. The starting point for this is assessment of the components of a national economy's (in)stability. The importance of strategy making process for Croatia's industrial development is particularly emphasized, and a step-by-step approach for building an acceptable model of industrial politics is recommended. This should provide for a quicker process of prestructuration and shifting onto a horizontal industrial politics, characteristic for the EU members, in a long term. Availability and quality of human resources, along with the technical and technological production basis, are particularly important for the process of industrial prestructuration. One part of the research is thus oriented towards a comparative analysis of these production and development factors in Croatia, in the EU members, and in the other countries in transition. The objective is to perceive possibilities for development in a more realistic way, and suggest potential measures and activities to uphold the process of rising the level of present and future personnel s knowledge, or in fact making them acquire the knowledge and skills essential for the entrepreneurial activities: Necessity and the components of creating conditions for wide application of the technical and technological progression results in the industrial sector are also analyzed separately.
