Sažetak
The public commentary by Croatian American intellectuals at the beginning of the 1990s was characterized by the dual Croatian-American perspective of observation, wherein (Croatian) patriotic feelings and the direct and open ("American") approach to the problem of Croatia's position in the United States and the world became interwined. Regardless of their different political backgrounds, most critically-oriented Croatian-Americans agreed about the importance of Croatia's democratic and economic development, where relations between Croatia and the United States were seen as vitally important, especially in the first half of the 1990s.
