Sažetak
We analyzed 16 children with congenital heart disease CHD and postoperative seizures out of 197 at age 1 months-16 years who underwent open heart surgery. Their EEG showed mostly diffuse slowing of cerebral activity or eletrocerebral silence immediately after seizures occured and persistent abnormalities on follow up in 2 children. Brain imagiing revealed mostly hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy or cerebrovascular incidents. The risk of neurologic abnormalities increases with the duration of hypothernic circulatory arrest and the seizure occurence
