Sažetak
In this paper we applied genomic in situ hybridzation in order to elucidate the paretnat Allium species which hybridized spontaneously and produced diploid and triploid viviparous onions. Assuming that a spontaneous hybridization process occurs among closely related species, we used as the probes genomic DNAs from Allium cepa, A. fistulosum and A. roylei. The last species was recently discovered to be one of the closest relatives of the common onion.
