Sažetak
AIM: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate antibacterial activity of a new calcium hydroxide based sealer, Apexit Plus (Vivadent, Schaan, Liechenstein) in comparison with AH 26 ( Dentsplay De Trey, Germany), Ketac Endo (ESPE, Germany) and RoekoSeal (Roeko Dental Products, Germany). METHODOLOGY: The effect of 4 different sealers on the growth of three bacteria (Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus) was measured using the agar diffusion test (ADT) and direct conact test (DCT). For ADT the zones of inhibition of bacterial growth were measured after seven days. For DCT a 10 µ ; l of bacterial suspension was placed on the test material. Bacteria were allowed to directly contact the sealers for 1 h at 37º ; C. Bacterial growth was then measured after 24hours, 48 hours, and after 7. RESULTS: ADT results indicated that Apexit Plus did not show any antibacterial activity. In DCT results, AH 26, Ketac Endo and RoekoSeal were potent bacterial growth inhibitors. Apexit Plus did not show antibacterial acitivity.
