Sažetak
When magnesium alloys are machined with carbide tools at high cutting speed, workpiece material may build-up on the tool, accompanied by a sharp increase in surface roughness and tool forces. It was shown through cutting experiments that with the use of a water based cutting fluid the flank build-up problems were completely eliminated within the actual cutting speed range. A part of this work shows that magnesium alloys can be machined with the polycristalline diamond (PCD) tool at very high cutting speeds without the FBU formation and with less fire hazard.
