Sažetak
In this time of strong international and intercultural contacts between people in all walks of life, multilin-gualism and intercultural orientation in foreign language teaching are also becoming condition sine qua non of the modern Primary School education. The author of this article wants to show that in the Primary School neither the concept of multilingualism nor the concept of interculturalism have been sufficiently developed. In order to find out more about these concepts, a survey was conducted in Primary Schools in Northwestern Croatia (it was conducted among the population that started to learn their first foreign lan-guage in Grade 1 five years ago). The aim of the survey was to detect the type of multilingual and inter-cultural awareness among the surveyed students. The results of the survey helped us to notice our weak points and to suggest improvements in the field.
