Sažetak
A legacy of socialism is the heterogeneous level of economic development, as well as different traces of middle-class culture in Danube countries. This is reflected in transformation processes in economy, politics, science and culture. The strongest trace (shock) is created by privatization, observable through speedy and profound social stratification, which in turn is caused by low GDP growth rates, growing unepmloyment etc. All Danube countries are therefore facing an imperative to improve their economic and social conditions. Geographic and other preferences are inducing them to cooperte in carrying out thi task, assisting in their integration into European economic framework.
