Sažetak
This paper analyzes changes and new tendencies concearning housing policy and economic activity in Croatian cities that derived from the process of transition from a centrally planned to a market economy. Housing sector experienced large changes, such as privatization of socially-owned dwellings, rising costs of housing, diversification of housing types. Retailing became one of the most propulsive city function and undergone large transformation, especially with development of new forms of retailing. Those changes are being reflected in spatial development of the cities and their internal structure.
