Sažetak
Implementation of the IT in the road transport safety is the crucial element of traffic analysis and statistical monitoring quality. The idea of unique system for monitoring and recording road safety parameters involves improvement, upgrade and interconnection of the different subjects (that care about road transport safety) and their information systems. In effort to emphasize the necessity, possibilities and advantages of using the IT in road transport safety, one of the program solutions that could be implemented in the field of road transport safety is analysed in this paper. It’ s about GIS (Geographic Information System) that has been put recently in use for determining the traffic accidents on the roads of the County of Primorje and Gorski Kotar. Dual function of GIS technology, which means the possibility of traffic accidents analysis (statistical monitoring) and use of that technology as basis for traffic solution suggestions, in the future should contribute to the higher degree of road transport safety in the area of the Primorje and Gorski Kotar County.
