Sažetak
Since the introduction of implanted cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) to clinical practice, infections of generators and leads have been a growing complication. We report of a case of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ICD infection contiguously spread from a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) site infection. Sleeve thrombi over the ICD leads were registered by echocardiography, surgical extraction of the leads was performed and a new ICD system was successfully placed. We stress the importance of remote gastrostomy placement from an ICD or revision from an abdominal to pectoral ICD system prior to gastrostomy formation in order to prevent this potentially lethal complication.
