Sažetak
All histaminergic neurons reside in the posterior hypothalamus and inervate most brain areas which is compatible with the concewpt that histamina is involved in general central regulatory mechainsms. A sensitive high performance liquid chromatographic fkuorimetric method was used to mesure histamine contents in post mortem Alzheimer brains and controls. The celular storage sites and distribution of histaminergic nerves fibers were exaimineid with a specific immunohystocemicl method. The hystamin contect was significantly reduced in the hypothhalamus, hippocampus and temporal cortex of Alzheimer brains.Histamine-containing nerv fibers were founde in hiccocampus , parahippocampal gyrus and subiculum of both Alzeimer brains and controls. No histamine-containg must cell were sine in this temporal structeres. Histamine in the human temporal lobe is stored in nerves fiberrs originating from the posterior hypothalamus and not in must cells. Decreased in brain histamine may contribute to the cognitive decline in Alzheimer desease dyreclty or through th colinergic sistem. Development of drugs that penetrate the blood brain barrier and increase histaminergic activity maight be beneficial in AD.
