Sažetak
The measurement of a cytokine expression during an immune response is very important for studying basic immune mechanisms and the pathogenesis of a disease. The analysis of cytokine mRNA may be an appropriate measurement for cytokine protein levels, because the production of many cytokines is primarily transcriptionally regulated. We have used the automated method for quantification of IL-1a mRNA by Gene Scan analysis software (Perkin Elmer), synthetic pAW109 RNA (internal standard) and GeneScan-500 TAMRA (size standard) for PCR analysis of cytokine production in human monocytes after appropriate stimulation.
