Sažetak
This paper explores in what extent information technology as a dimension of the formal structure of company contributes in achieving compay goals. On the basis of the results of the case study which has been carried out in 1995 the author arrives to the conclusion that the obstacles preventing more productive use of IT are the consequence of two fundamental causes. Firstly, the uncontrolled and unsynchronized implementation of separate computer systems. Secondly, strategies regarding the development of IT and programmes of monitoring the results obtained have not been formulated in most organizations.Consequently, the development of IT was taking place separately from the company's strategic goals instad of being instrument in function of achievement those goals.
