Sažetak
In the reactions of selected thiosemicarbazones and VO(acac)2 we have detected and succesfully isolated three different reaction products. Amount of the particular kind of product is mainly dependent on duration of the reaction, solvent and nature of ligand (substituent R on aldehyde ring). Crystal and molecular structures of isolated compounds have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. We have confirmed by UV experiments that oxidation of vanadium ion and formation of monomeric complex represents the first step of the reaction. We are still unaware of exact mechanism of both cyclization reactions, formation of thiazoline and thiadiazole ring, but we have strong indications confirmed by several experiments that role of vanadium is crucial for their occurance.
