Sažetak
Banks are still the most important financial institution, but they are faced with increasing competition from other financial institution. In the same time, slowdown on the life insurance market has been visible in transition economies, while developed economies have been lately even faced with its decrease. Increasing competition between banks and non-banking institutions forced both banks and insurance companies to face with its decreasing markets share and higher requirements from their clients. High clients' requirements and increasing costs forced banks and insurance companies to find different channels for distribution of their products. Bancassurance is a model of integration of banking and insurance markets. Bank provides distribution network and insurance company financial products. First model of such integration exist in Croatia since 1996. This paper will analyse different models of bancassurance and advantages and disadvantages for developing such a model of integration. This paper will show possibilities, but also barriers for further development and strengthen the bancassurance on the Croatian market.
