Sažetak
Abstract This paper is dealing with geographical distribution of relative frequencies of days with hail in the northern part of Croatia (25177 km2), where hail suppression system works with rockets over 20 years. The data set was collected from the observational reports of hail suppression launching station network in time period from to 1991. The average number of launching stations during this period was about 450 and total number of reports was 5011. This data set includes hail and small hail with or without damage on the ground. The western part of protected area is mainly a hilly terrain and an eastern part is flat with some lower hills. Statistical analysis shows that in both parts the dominant directions of Cb clouds with hail on the ground are W and NW with velocity 25 km/h on average. Considering radar measured heights of the Cb clouds from these directions, they are greater then heights from other directions. The geographical analysis shows strong influence of orography, especially parts with high frequencies of days with hail per season are E or SE of the orographic barriers. The area SE from mountain Strahinčica have a maximum of 3.5 days per season. This distributions map can be useful for hail suppression system, agriculture, insurance companies and others.
