Sažetak
ABSTRACT: Strength and damage indexes of buildings are suggested as a method for evaluation of existing buildings for their ‘ seismic safety’ and ‘ retrofitting’ . The presented method is simple and combines experimental data and engineering knowledge. It helps in detection of structures with weaknesses and those without and presents a quick way for structural evaluation, especially for expected seismic behavior. The method could also be used for choice of the optimal strengthening method and the verification of the performed works. Proposed methodology can be considered as a useful engineering tool to provide a base for planning of restoration measures and for checking their success. The method is outlined and explained on a practical example.
