Sažetak
Over the last several years air traffic in Croatia is being significantly intensified, new air companies are being founded and the fleet increased, a new building of the regional air traffic control is being built fitted with the most advanced navigation-communication equipment, and there is a plan to expand the capacities of the Zagreb Airport. The Republic of Croatia is a member of the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA)and EUROCONTROL, and has therefore also accepted the regulations that refer to the training of the aviation staff regulated by the associations. Since 2005, a new model of training the pilots and air traffic controllers has been implemented at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, and it fully meets the actual needs of JAA and EUROCONTROL. According to the new training model the pilot and air traffic control licenses can be acquired as part of the curriculum of the undergraduate study which has been harmonised with the Bologna requirements, but also as a part of the out-of-study curricula that are realised through adequate courses in the Croatian Aviation Training Centre of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. The paper gives a comparison of the new Croatian training model with the European and US model.
