Sažetak
This paper presents experimental research of concrete beams and masonry walls behavior under increasing load which was part of research done at Civil Engineering Faculty in Zagreb, Croatia. Beam specimens were reinforced with GFRP and steel bars in order to compare the results of experiments with results of theoretical investigations. The second experiment described in this paper was on masonry walls subjected to increasing vertical load. The third experiment was done on masonry walls subjected to constant vertical and increasing horizontal load. Masonry walls were either unreinforced or reinforced. Walls were reinforced with GFRP wires or with steel wires. All masonry wall specimens were constructed of solid masonry units (bricks) and cement-lime mortar. Carrying capacity was tested and behavior of wall specimens during testing was recorded.
