Sažetak
In dealing with the aircraft noise, two approaches, actually divided by fuselage skin, are usually used: aircraft exterior noise and aircraft interior noise. Aircraft exterior noise, known also as aircraft community noise, is principally an environmental problem. Since it affects wider population, especially in airport surroundings, legislatively is well defined by a set of firm restrictions in aircraft construction and flight procedures likewise. Aircraft interior noise, often referred to as cabin or cockpit noise, as a matter of ergonomics and/or medicine, intensely influences crew and passenger comfort and in time, even health is affected. More important, as being strong speech masker, aircraft interior noise considerably interferes with communication between the crew and/or ATC and directly deteriorates the safety of flight. Despite these downsides, there is still no legislation which would standardize cabin noise issues, except discretionary recommendations serving as guidelines to aircraft manufacturers. Along with the brief review of theoretical background of cabin noise sources, a set of significant aircraft interior noise measurement results and its consequences on speech communication will be presented and discussed in this paper, while the objects of investigation were few G/A aircraft of different constructions and powerplant systems.
