Sažetak
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by spirochete Treponema paiiidum. Although syphilis is not any more one of the main health problems, it still persists, and more of that number of infected persons is in increase. :According to the duration of the disease syphilis is divided in early syphilis and late syphilis. According clinical picure disease is divided in three stages. As for the long time syphilis was named as „ great imitator' because it 11s IN rentiat diagnoses typical lesion is primary chancre located in genital region. In differential diagnosis it should be deration that lesions can be located extragenitally, as well as that some other diseases can mimic different conditions, it is of importance to know all the possible clinical picutres in different stages of yphilis, as well as differential diagnoses. , primary stage typical lesion is primary chancre located in genital region. In differential diagnosis it should be ken into consideration that lesions can be located extragenitally, as well as that some other diseases can have in different stages similar clinical pictures that can be missdiagnosed as any from the group of .. papulosquamous diseases (i.e. pityriasis rosea), fungal diseases, drug eruption, as well as alopecia areata. Tertiary syphilis manifested on the skin can be misdiagnosed with any of the granulomatous diseases, particularly tuberculosis, leprosy, sarcoidosis, deep mycoses, and lymphomas. For this reason, big importance shoud be given to this topic in the education of medical students, as well as in the continous medical education our our fellows and residents. As clinical picture is very important chain in diagnosis of syphilis, this will give us opportunity for early diagnosis and early therapy of sypilis.
