Sažetak
The quantitative amalysis of constitutive heterochromatin has been performed in order to investigate its possible role in human reproduction and development. For this purpose, 30 couples with different fertility disorders and 30 infertile men were evaluated. The clinical diagnoses of couples were: the history of repeatedspontaneous abortions, stillborn child, birth of a malformed child or sterility. For infertile men diagnoses were: hypogonadism, confirmed azoospermia or oligozoospermia. the control group is represented by 7 couples with one or more healthy children, and without the history of spontaneous abortions or abnormal children. All individuals included in the investigation have normal karyotype. M ; easuring of constitutive heterochromatinwas performed on GTG-banded metaphase chromosomes. The relative amount of constitutive heterochromatin was determined by q/(p+q) transformation. Its relative total amount in somatic cells and minimal and maximal relative total amount in potential zygotes of the couples were determined by measuring chromosome's pair 1, 9 and 16 in five mitosis of visaully the same degree of chromosomal condensation. The distribution of the investigated parameters is normal in both test groups and a control group. The difference between their mean values failed to show statistically significant difference (p>0, 05).
