Sažetak
The aim of the study was to compare value priorities among Croatian adolescents over the period of eight years. Data were collected on two nationally representative samples of adolescents. In the 1998 data were collected on 2823 adolescents and in the 2006 on 876 adolescents. In both waves adolescents ranked the seven values based on personal importance, and rated the importance of the eighteen values using the five-point scale. The relative stability of values’ rank order was observed over the time. Adolescents, both in 1998 and 2006, ranked health as the most important and fun and pleasure as the least important value to them. In both waves factor analyses of rated importance of the eighteen values confirmed three-factor solution, enabling differentiation between conventional value orientation, self-actualizing and hedonistic orientation. Adolescents gave the highest importance to self-actualizing values, and the lowest importance to hedonistic values. The results were discussed in terms of cultural, political and economical influences on value priorities taking into account differentiation between personal, political and work values.
