Sažetak
The aim of the study was to examine the relation of life satisfaction with adolescents' vitality and their reports about the importance of life goals (aspirations). The sample consisted of 468 adolescents. The mean age of adolescents was 16.5 years. The participants completed the revised Aspiration Index Scale (Kasser & Ryan, 1996), Life Satisfaction Scale (Diener, 1984), and the Subjective Vitality Scale (Individual Difference Level Version ; Ryan & Frederic, 1997). In accordance with previous findings in this area of research (Ryan & Frederic, 1997 ; Kasser & Ryan, 1996), the results confirmed that adolescents who reported higher life satisfaction also reported higher vitality and higher importance of intrinsic life goals. Adolescents who were more focused on intrinsic life goals also had higher vitality. The prediction of life satisfaction in adolescence on the basis of vitality was confirmed. Since gender differences in the importance of extrinsic and intrinsic life goals have been found in previous research (Kasser & Ryan, 1996 ; Ryan et al., 1999), as well as in this research, separate analyses were performed for the gender subsamples. Analyses revealed that vitality was the most important predictor of life satisfaction in both female and male subsamples. In addition, the importance of intrinsic life goals was shown to be predictive for life satisfaction only in the male subsample.
