Sažetak
The reservoirs constructed in Slavonia (Eastern Croatia) with an aim to prevent floods mainly fulfil their basic purpose. Using the Borovik reservir, one of the biggest reservoirs in Slavonia, as an illustration, we give an example of a complete management of reservoirs based on ecological principles in order to enable their multiple use. The ecological research of the Borovik reservoir was carried out in 1996. The analisys included the physical and chemical water quality and biotic communities: phytoplankton, zooplankton and the reservoir ichthyofauna. Based on obtained results, we have determined the trophic condition of the Borovik reservoir and, accordingly, the range and ways of its multiole use.
