Sažetak
During the operation of heat pump systems that utilize surface water as the heat source, the problem of the low sea water temperature can appear occasionally. Experience during the operation of heat pump systems with the sea water as the heat source in Mediterranean climate has shown appearance of temperatures lower than 10oC, decreasing sometimes even to 5oC which caused problems with operation of water – to – water heat pump systems. The paper describes heat pump system designs able to operate efficiently in the case of low temperature of the surface water. The system with the evaporator circuit filled with the glycol – water solution has been discussed and the impact on the energy consumption and investment costs has been presented. Modified water loop heat pump system, with the heat pump used instead the boiler has been proposed and analyzed. Important details that should be considered in design and construction of such systems have been pointed. Analyses of energy consumption and the choice of optimal loop temperature in winter operation have been performed.
