Sažetak
The most important adventages of the Croatian tourism industry are cultural and historical heritage, Mediterranean climate and preserved nature. Istria as the Croatian region and the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea is a territory with interaction of different civilisations, cultures and traditions. The development possibilites of Rural tourism offer in Istria are based on attractive natural tourism region. Istria as the part of the Coastal Croatia has a good predisposition for selective tourism acitivities that have not been utilised. Throughout the years, Istria has orientated itself around tourism. Agrotourism, as a part of rural tourism concept, is quite popular and most of these destinations are located in the interior parts of Istria characterised with unspoiled nature. The goal of this paper is to explain three, interrelated, elements of the rural tourism concept. That mean the ability of Rural tourism to develop a specific autochthonous tourist product of the Istrian region and also the ability of society to benefit from current trends in the international tourism demand. Creation of new tourism product types is the implementation base of the Croatian tourism development policy.
