Sažetak
Location-based services (LBS) form a group of telecommunication services that provides information content and services in relation to location. Successful development of the LBS, as seen from both technological and commercial point of view, requires a generic description of the LBS. Since every LBS results from the appropriate synergy of robust and reliable positioning, mobile communication and location-related content provision, it is important to reveal the relationships between three LBS constituents. Out team has already proposed the LBS Reference Model (LRM), as a description of the LBS structure in accordance to the latest industrial specifications (3GPP, OMA) that deal with the LBS from the position estimation. Indeed, positioning procedure forms a foundation for every LBS. However, from the information point of view, the position matures through the process of LBS delivery and this evolution of position information has not been addressed properly so far. Considering the lack of proper description of information evolution through the LBS delivery process, an enhancement of previously defined LBS Reference Model, entitled the Enhanced LBS Reference Model (ELRM), is proposed in order to allow for needed description. In due course, the LRM is enhanced by the Location Context Aggregation (LCA) Layer, added to previously established Basic Positioning, Advanced Positioning and Application layers. The LCA Layer creates an information area (entitled location landscape) around the estimated position achieved by lower layers (Advanced and Basic Positioning) of the ELRM. In creation of a location landscape, the LCA Layer is responsible for negotiation for content and content aggregation from various sources, with the emphasis given on those available on the Internet. Location landscape is then defined as a set of information of various sorts (location of nearby landmarks, such as petrol stations, restaurants and other points of interests ; spatial distribution of geographical, demographical, economic information etc.) that comprise the relationship with the position of LBS initiator. Finally, the LCA Layer is responsible for location landscape delivery to the Application Layer, where location landscape context is filtered in order to provide the requested LBS (content or service delivery in appropriate form). Proposed ELRM is validated on a simple Location Context Aggregation (LCA) prototype. The prototype delivers Google Maps-based content with filtered location landscape to the service initiator, based on his/her position. The ELRM is successfully mapped onto the LCA prototype structure, thus proving the appropriate description of the evolution of the position information through the course of the LBS delivery. Further research is planned, with the aim to develop the final addition to the ELRM that will be describe the impact on the LBS generated by telecommunication network as a third component of a common LBS.
