Sažetak
Hog production in the Republic of Croatia includes independent peasants, peasants in co-operation with an integrator, specialized hog production become higher and independent peasants can not finance it. Investigation of financial environment of hog producers, hog operation itself and influence of an integrator gave the following picture. Analysis of the input and output prices shows that major source of risk for hog producers is changes of price for fattened animals. Prices for piglets are also volatile and feed prices are rather stabile. Integrator has invested in 268673.35-280372.67 Croatian kunas on each farm in average. He also solved the marketing for integrated producers. Although the return to fattening services is usually lower than in selfproprietary business, comparison with independent producers in Eastern Croatia shows that integrated peasants performet financially better. The average value of return to unpaid labor and management in tre sample was 1311.73-1520.28 Croatian kunas per month. To achieve monthly salary equal to the state average peasant has to fattened 607 pigs during the year. It is important that investigated farms already have capacities to produce so much, but they have to increase the turnover. Comparison with dairy farmers in Eastern Croatia indicates that integrated hog producers performed significantly better in financial sense. If they decide to produce Hypor of Peietran sw ines it is highly probable that will be some extra profits.
